Silvia Dorado is an associate professor of management at the University of Rhode Island and visiting professor at the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Her research addresses such topics as the development of socioeconomic hybrid organizations and institutional entrepreneurship.
Silvia received her B.A. degree from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Spain, her M.A. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and her Ph.D. from McGill University. She has published in some of the top journals in management, such as the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Business Venturing, Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly, and Organization Studies—including a paper profiling DePaul Industries in the Journal of Social Entrepreneurship.
Prior to her academic career, Dr. Dorado worked for Andersen Consulting, the Latino Economic Development Center (University of Massachusetts, Boston) and the World Bank.
