Industry: Restaurant/Bar Supply
Current Position: Warehouse Manager
Christian’s journey wasn’t an easy one, but he is on the other side and happy to share his story of happiness and success.
Christian was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and moved to Hermiston, Oregon, in 1996. He joined the military out of high school and was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky for one year, then returned to Hermiston to finish out his commitment.
In 2009 he moved to Portland and was introduced to The DPI Group by friends. He began in Fire Watch, quickly advancing to team lead. This contract ended, and he moved into driving for various agencies contracted with DPI Staffing, which he enjoyed, but a bout with illness began to wear him down. He became depressed, lethargic and put on a lot of weight. Travis Pearson, DPI’s President & CEO and also a veteran, took an interest in Christian and encouraged him to see a doctor.
Travis’s encouragement saved Christian’s life. He was diagnosed with diabetes and now, three years later, has taken an interest in his health and his illness is under control. In 2015, he returned to DPI looking for work. A recruiter placed him with a few different companies, trying to find the right fit. In March of 2017, Christian found his final DPI Staffing placement driving for Bargreen Ellingson, a bar and restaurant supplier. In just two months, Bargreen Ellingson recognized Christian’s potential and bought out the remainder of his contract from DPI. He began training for his promotion to Warehouse Manager and took on that role in January 2018.
Christian is a different person today than when he originally started with DPI. He’s healthier and happier and has dreams for himself. He is looking to put down roots and buy his first home in Portland in the next few years. He loves his job. He feels valued and respected by his employers. He looks to stay with Bargreen Ellingson and continue to grow and advance as a working professional in this company.
