To be successful in the 21st century, businesses have to do more than just throw around buzzwords like “CSR.” Customers are looking for responsible businesses, and they’re looking for businesses to contribute more than just charitable donations. Signs in the private sector are pointing towards a shift from passive philanthropic giving to collaborative business-nonprofit partnerships, where both parties create social value and support their bottom lines.
The Business4Better Conference and Exhibition, annual event by Business4Better, is centered on these mutually beneficial relationships between businesses and nonprofits. In fact, the existence of the conference itself is a sign of the shift towards these partnerships! This year the conference will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center May 1-2, and it will feature thought leaders, working groups, relationship building and, of course, businesses and nonprofits already involved in creative, collaborative partnerships. This event is essential for companies preparing for business in the 21st century, as well as companies already committed to social responsibility.
As a social enterprise working with private companies, we’ve realized true business-nonprofit partnerships means that both parties create social change and improve their bottom lines. At DePaul, that means creating opportunities for people with disabilities and solutions for businesses. Dave Shaffer, our President and CEO, will be speaking about DePaul and the opportunity for mutually beneficial business-nonprofit partnerships at the conference on Wednesday, May 1st from 1:00 p.m.-1:30 p.m.
